| Salon brings world-class hair and nail treatment
Lorn Lorn Atelier, a new luxury nail and hair salon, has opened its doors in Incline Village.
Stylist Lorn Arvizu and esthetician Kymberly Whitaker opened the doors to the first Loran Loran more than 20 years ago in Palm Springs, and have developed a luxury salon for high-end clientele.
The new Incline salon mirrors the larger Lorn Lorn salons in such places as Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs and New Port Beach.
The reason we opened up a salon in Incline Village was to follow our clientele, Whitaker said. Many of our clients have second homes in Tahoe and we wanted to bring our services to them, no matter where they may be.
All our salons are in resort-type areas and Incline Village just seemed like a perfect fit.
The staff of the salon promises to stay on top of new styles, services and high-quality products Whitaker said.
Houston stylist helps top models get dressed
If a model walks down the runway with a loose shoelace, buttons unfastened or a wrinkled shirt, Spiller could lose her job as a dresser during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. It's a challenge the Houston native is willing to face as one of nearly 100 dressers hired by the Ground Crew, a 30-year-old New York company that also provides hairstylists, makeup artists, tailors, production assistants and other specialists to help backstage with the twice-yearly fashion shows. Though they are never seen by the public, the dressers make certain models are wearing the right clothes, shoes and accessories, all according to the designer's wishes. For two weeks each February and September, Spiller closes her Culture Salon here to work during fashion week. The pay isn't as much as she makes at home, she says, but the experience brings her closer to fulfilling a lifelong dream of working as a hair and makeup stylist in New York.
