Leading Hair Stylist Jon Patrick to Appear on PBS' "Real Simple"

Jon Patrick, celebrity hair stylist and colorist, will be appearing on a segment in episode 206 of "Real Simple Television" on PBS, airing Feb 10, at 3 pm in Los Angeles, Calif. and on Feb. 17, at 3 pm in New York City. For times the show will air in other areas, visit http://www.realsimple.com/tv. Patrick, whose expertise in the world of hair color has established him as the "go to guy" for everything from highlights to color corrections, will share tips and advice on how to navigate your way through the overwhelming aisle of hair care products and find exactly the right combination for your hair type. As Patrick says, "It really can be overwhelming to buy a bottle of shampoo with all the choices available today. What I've tried to do in this segment is to make consumers understand that it's important to be strategic and make sure that your cleanser, conditioner, styling aid and finish are all working together to address your specific hair needs.

Lots of Love Given to 'Locks of Love'

What started as an ordinary lunch period turned into a day at the salon Wednesday, as four Castaic Middle School students and their principal each had their hair cut and donated in the name of charity.

Placed in a row on the campus' main outdoor stage, the four female students - Alejandra Gonzalez, Natalie Joost, Ashley Silvestre and Brianne Jeske - each donned smocks and placed their hair in soon-to-be-snipped ponytails, as volunteer hair stylist Ella Claffey prepared to go to work.

Within moments the girls would provide a combined more than 40 inches of hair to "Locks of Love" - a nonprofit public organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medically-related hair loss.

"One ... two ... three," said Principal Marcia Dains, leading an audience countdown to the first official snip, which resulted in the loss of seventh-grader Natalie Joost's 10-inch ponytail.
